Alyson is a holistic designer and creative thinker based in the New York Metro area. Her diverse educational background includes a Graphic Design Certificate from Pratt and a B.A. from the University of Richmond in Leadership Studies with a minor in Women’s Studies.
After graduating from her undergraduate program, Alyson served a year in AmeriCorps working with middle school students in Newark, NJ. She then focused her work in the nonprofit sector for several years with organizations like Girls Inc, The Urban League, and The Children’s Defense Fund. She held a variety of roles from Program Coordinator to Designer. These unique educational and professional experiences have inspired a multifaceted perspective on how design can be used to create better outcomes.
Alyson approaches everything with humility and compassion which helps her to find common ground across difference. She is passionate about women’s issues and is currently part of an advocacy group that brings awareness to sexual assault and domestic violence. Alyson believes design can be used to move people towards wholeness and move systems toward equity. She is currently earning a Masters degree in Design for Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts and is examining ways design can make healing more accessible to trauma survivors.
